Accessibility at Fresno State
Student Accommodation Requests
Fresno State is committed to providing equal access to educational opportunities for students with disabilities. Students who need disability-related accommodations should connect with Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) to begin the interactive process.
Who Can Request Accommodations?
Students with documented disabilities, including physical, sensory, learning, psychological, and chronic health conditions, may be eligible for accommodations. Prospective students can also contact SSD to discuss needs before enrolling.
How to Request Accommodations
- Complete the online student application through the SSD website.
- Provide documentation that describes the impact of your disability and any recommended accommodations. Documentation should be from a doctor, practitioner, or other qualified individual. Documentation can be uploaded to the application.
- Schedule an appointment with an SSD Access Specialist to discuss your academic program, barriers, and appropriate accommodations.
- Work with SSD to share your approved accommodation letters with your instructors each term.
Types of Accommodations
- Classroom accommodations (note-taking support, accessible materials, captioning).
- Testing accommodations (extended time, reduced-distraction environments, assistive technology).
- Housing and campus-life accommodations, when appropriate.
Questions and Support
If you are unsure whether you qualify for accommodations or need help with the process, please contact SSD. The staff can explain options, timelines, and confidentiality protections.
